Sustainability Statement
At Cakes by Nina, we care deeply about the impace our business has on the environment, and always aim to make responsible choices wherever possible.
Our wrapping on our taster samples are biodegradable, our packaging boxes are made from recycled cardboard. We use biodegradable piping bags and biodegradable cookie bags for all our tasty treats and desserts. Our taster boxes are packaged in a environment friendly shipping box.
To reduce our energy impact, we hve installed solar panels, which power our in-house batteries, These help to run our ovens and any electrical equipment, including mixers, reducing our overall carbon footprint.
We also aim to minimise unnecessary travel. Many of our ingredients are delivered directly to us from the supplier, including fresh free range eggs, organic flours from the producer. We order ingredients in larger quantities to reduce frequent shopping trips and lower the carbon impact of transport.
Where possible, we reuse materials in our business. Our cupcakes boxes are reusable and we encourage clients to return them to us so they can be cleaned and used again. Dummy cakes are carefully stripped down so the polystrene can be reused for future designs.
We also refill our washing up and cleaning products using the same bottles to reduce plastic waste.
Due to hygiene regulations, cake boards cannot be reused, however most are made from cardboard and can be placed in recycling.
We do recycle wherever possible and are always looking for ways to improve sustainability with in our industry while maintaining the high hygiene standars required for food preparation.
