Certain times of the year we do not recommend buttercream finished weddings cakes due to their instability, an ganache finish will give you a more polished finish and be a more stable alternative. Alternatively if you want to play it safe go for one of our illusion wedding cakes. If you are insistent on using florist flowers see our notes at bottom of page with reference to the use of fresh flowers.
If we had to make a choice between ganache and a buttercream finish we would prefer to work in ganache it just gives you the stability and polished finish that you just do not achieve with buttercream.

Our illusion finish recreates the appearance of exposed sponge while providing the strength and stability of a fully covered wedding cake, making it particularly suitable for warmer weather, transportation and extended venue displays.

The Use of Florist Flowers
We are more than happy to work with florist flowers but we do have some terms and conditions on doing so, please read below.
If you are set on your florist to supply fresh flowers we are happy to decorate, as we prep them for the cake, to ensure they don't get into contact with your cake, please be aware, not all flowers or foliage are food safe, and Cakes by Nina will not put toxic flowers or foliage that we know off on a cake, even if you have seen it done in a photo. Please ensure no pesticides have been used, also please note not all flowers are robust enough to be put on cakes and will wilt in the hotter weather conditions .
